The first thing that impressed me was the content covered in the Nanodegree program. The Naodegree program not only teaches the concepts of digital marketing but also covers SEO, Email marketing, Social Media Marketing, Google Ads Campaigns, Link Building, etc. These are the essential topics that you must know as a digital marketing expert.

The next thing that I found quite impressive was the practical exposure after every course. I mean after every course, there is one project that you need to complete in order to move to the next course. This will help you to brush up on the concepts learned in the theory section.

The Udacity Digital Marketing Nanodegree has 7 courses and 7 projects. Now, let’s see what you will learn in each and every course-

Course 1- Marketing Fundamentals

This course covers more than the fundaments of marketing. First, you will be familiar with Udacity’s digital marketing framework.

After that, the instructor explains how you can identify your business and its values. Next, how you can identify your potential customers and key touchpoints and stages of your customer journey.

The instructor also covers the channels and the mediums you can use to market your business and how to choose the most relevant marketing channels to suit your customer journey.

You will also learn some technical concepts such as the role of marketing objectives, KPIs, and metrics.

In digital marketing, the most powerful way to market your business is the content. And the instructor explains how you can plan your content and the ideal type of landing pages or website structure to host your content.

Overall, this is a very insightful course. This course will clear the base of digital marketing. After completing this course, you understand your business values, your customer’s key touchpoints, a suitable channel to market your business, and content planning.

After completing this course, there is one project, that you have to finish.

Project 1- Get Ready to Market

In this project, either you have to work for your company or choose the company that Udacity provides. For this project, Udacity provides a sandbox company(Magnolia Coffee Company).

The objective of this project is to find out the business model of the company, and the marketing objective, and create a target persona for the product you choose to market.

You also have to figure out customer’s touchpoints and plan content and medium or channels to market your product.

Every business needs different content planning and marketing channels. And this project will help you to think and work according to different business models.

Course 2- Marketing Data & Technology

The main focus of this course is on how to use tracked and collected data to enhance your business strategies. In this course, you will learn the most common testing method and analytics models in marketing.

The instructor explains how to set up a Google Analytics account. Google Analytics helps to track and collect the data. And you can analyze this collected data to take future marketing decisions.

You will also learn how to develop plans to build eCommerce capabilities for your marketing strategies. After completing this course, you will have a clear mindmap of how to use Google Analytics to enhance marketing strategies.

There is one project related to the concepts learned in this course.

Project 2- Using Data & Technology to Create Successful Digital Marketing Strategies

This project is based on how to use Google Analytics and how to find key insights about the audience, their behavior, and conversions from existing marketing strategies.

By analyzing this data, you have to figure out what is working fine and what areas need to change. If the conversion rate is good, then your marketing strategies are good. Otherwise, you have to change your marketing strategies.

This elective course will teach you about different social media platforms and how to use these platforms to market your business. The instructors will explain how to implement your campaigns using appropriate tools and monitor the performance.

You will also understand about basic elements of social media advertising and its pricing models. The best thing about this course is that you will learn how to set up your advertising account on Facebook, how to develop plans for ad placements, budget, and schedule to create your ad.

Along with that, there is one complete project related to social media marketing.

Project 3- Marketing Your Content

For this project, you have to build a real social media campaign strategy for a skincare brand. You have to do some research and create the best strategy for organic advertisement and paid advertisement for social media marketing campaigns.

To conduct the research, Udacity will provide previous campaign performance data, audience personas, etc. This project will help you to build confidence to run social media ad campaigns.

Project 4- Conduct an SEO Audit

In this project, you have to do SEO for your website and your objective is to improve your website ranking by optimizing SEO strategies. SEO is not a one-day game. SEO takes time to rank your website on Google listings. But by working on this project, you will learn tips and tactics to improve your SEO in a long term.

Course 5- Search Engine Marketing (SEM) (Elective)

This course is very essential for you. Because in this course, you will learn how to run a Google Ads Campaign. Many business marketers use Search Engine Marketing to get conversions using Google search.

You will understand how to develop Keyword lists with both short-tail and long-tail keywords, how to engage searchers in your ad campaign, etc.

In this course, you will also learn the relationship between Ad Rank and CPC Bid, and the budget for your Maximum CPC Bid.

Overall, this course provides value and covers some essential topics in detail.

Project 5- Evaluate a Google Ads Campaign

This project will be very beneficial for you in your long-term digital marketing career. In this project, you will create your first Google Ad campaign for a brand.

Next, you will analyze one Google Ad campaign and find out the problems and suggestions to improve the campaign strategy.

If you enroll in this Nanodegree for a job change, you can mention this project in your Resume. If you enroll to advance your own digital marketing skills, implement this project learnings in your own company.

Next, you will understand how to plan a campaign such as setting your bid, budgeting, and testing strategy based on your advertising goal, selecting the right video ad formats and specs to engage audiences on YouTube, etc.

In the end, you will learn how to create display and video campaigns and measure the results using Google Ads.

Project 6- Plan a Multichannel Ad Campaign

The whole project will improve your marketing analysis. In this project, you will craft a plan to run a multichannel shopping campaign where your main focus will be on display, shopping, and YouTube video ads.

First, you have to analyze the previous ad campaign data and suggest improvements where needed. Next, you have to analyze the multichannel test results to check their effectiveness. And by using these results, you will have to plan your next multichannel campaign to optimize the results.

Udacity provides a technical mentor support feature. That means you can ask any doubts related to projects with your mentor. This feature is very helpful for completing projects.

Course 7- Email Marketing (Elective)

Many experts say, “Money is on the List“. And this list is nothing but your Email List. Email Marketing is a very effective marketing strategy. This course is all about learning the basics of Email Marketing.

This course has only 4 lessons but they cover all the essential concepts of email marketing. First, you will learn how to create effective and secure contact forms, and how to build your subscriber list for your emails with contact forms using MailChimp.

The instructor also explains how to write an effective email for your subscribers, how to create an email plan by understanding different types of email campaigns, etc.

You will also understand how to analyze email performance and use this data to improve your email marketing strategy.

The concepts you will learn in this course will help you in the long term as a digital marketing expert. After this course, there is one last project related to Email Marketing.

The projects covered in this Nanodegree Program were based on real-world problems. And these projects will be helpful to your resume.

Now, the next most important point you must clear before enrolling is Pricing. Because Udacity Digital Marketing Nanodegree is expensive compared to other courses.

What I didn’t like about Udacity Digital Marketing Nanodegree?

  • The Udacity Nanodegree program is expensive compared to other MOOCs platforms.
  • After completing the Nanodegree program, you can’t access the course material. Maybe Udacity does this to avoid misuse.
  • Udacity doesn’t have any IOS and Android apps. So, you can’t study on your smartphones and outside the house.

So after analyzing everything about the Udacity Digital Marketing Nanodegree, it’s time to answer this question- “Do I Suggest Udacity Digital Marketing Nanodegree?”

My Personal Suggestion

Many people thought that after completing this Udacity Digital Marketing Nanodegree, they can easily get a job as a Digital marketing expert. No…It’s a big No.

This Udacity Digital Marketing Nanodegree program will help you to gain advanced concepts in Digital marketing and teach you the concepts of SEO, Email marketing, Social Media Marketing, Google Ads Campaigns, Link Building, etc.

But you have to experiment by running different ad campaigns, implementing SEO techniques, analyzing email marketing performance, etc. Learning any skill is a time taking process. With the help of this Nanodegree, you are able to run Google Ad Campaign, Facebook Ad Campaigns, SEO, Email marketing, etc.
